ABOUT AFSHIN SHAHALIZAD
I know firsthand what it feels like to build something from nothing. Early in my career, I worked in a tech startup, walking the same path that founders do when trying to take an idea from. I saw the excitement of innovation but also the frustration when brilliant ideas fell short—not because of a lack of vision, but because of hidden challenges that quietly derail progress. Funding that never materializes; projects that stall due to poor management; operations that can’t keep pace; teams that are rich in technical talent but struggle to connect innovation with business success. And always, the uphill battle of scaling, attracting, and retaining the right people. It became clear to me that most founders don’t fail because they lack great ideas. They struggle because they lack the business and operational skills to transform those ideas into real, sustainable companies. That realization, combined with my passion for Made-in-Canada manufacturing, pushed me to look beyond startups. I observed that many SMEs in Canada face their own unique set of productivity challenges, ranging from inefficient operations to outdated processes that hinder their competitiveness in a global market. That’s why I founded AdvaTech. Our mission is simple: To help early-stage tech companies and SMEs overcome their most pressing challenges—compressing project timelines, securing the funding they need, and streamlining operations without ever compromising on quality. We bring in proven tools like Lean methodologies, robust project management practices, and practical business and G2M strategies that make innovation scalable.Along the way, I’ve also learned how challenging it is for venture capital (VC) firms and angel investors to identify the right companies to back. That’s why we bridge the gap from both sides—helping founders to de-risk their operations and become investment-ready. This gives investors confidence that the companies they support can deliver the desired ROIs. At the heart of what I do is a belief that innovation should not only start strong but also finish strong. Whether you’re building the next great tech solution or leading a manufacturing business that wants to scale smarter, my goal is to help you move faster, work leaner, and grow with confidence.I’d love to hear about your journey, so let’s connect!
