ABOUT ADAM WEBSTER

I am an Associate Professor of Law and Public Policy at Oxford, with a background in constitutional and public law.In 2021, I stepped back from a permanent academic post to become the primary parent to my two daughters, while continuing my scholarship and teaching part-time. That decision has given me a new perspective on the gap between what policy promises and what families actually experience.I am now beginning to explore how systems — from parental leave to school hours and workplace expectations — shape family life, and how we might design them differently. My writing brings together my academic expertise and my lived experience to ask: why are fathers still the minority at the school gate?Alongside this emerging focus, my academic research continues on constitutional law and public policy in the UK and Australia, informed by earlier work as a Fulbright Scholar in the United States. Follow me here for weekly reflections on fatherhood, care, and equality.
