ABOUT ROHAN BIR SINGH

Currently, Ocular/Corneal Immunology Fellow pursuing clinical and basic science research under the mentorship of Dr.Reza Dana, MD MSc MPH, Claes H. Dohlman Chair of Ophthalmology, at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Department of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School. I am also pursuing my Ph.D. in ocular immunology under the supervision of Dr. Martin J. Jager (Professor of Ophthalmology, Leiden University) and Dr. Dana. My research focuses on the prevalence and pathogenesis of ocular graft-versus-host-disease in patients after bone marrow transplantation, factors modulating immunopathogenesis of acute and chronic dry eye disease, and epidemiology of corneal disorders in the United States. I have published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in top ophthalmology journals including the Ocular Surface, Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology and presented his basic science as well as clinical research at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, the Harvard Biennial Cornea Conference, American Society of Retina Specialists Annual Meeting, Cornea Society, and New England Ophthalmological Society. In the past, I have held several leadership positions including the Vice-Chair of Harvard Medical Postdoc Association, considered to be the largest body of postdoctoral fellows in the United States. I was selected for the ARVO Science Communication Training Fellowship, class of 2020-21. I am actively involved in the medical and undergraduate student education as a part of the author panel for First Aid for USMLE Step 1, a textbook resource widely considered to be the \"Bible for Medical Students\" for board exam preparation. I also work with high school students through the Skype-A-Scientist program. I founded a charity organization, International Vision Survey, which has raised funds for eye examinations, mediciations and surgeries for over 973 non-affording patients in Punjab, India.
