ABOUT ADAM AIKEN

I am a senior journalist for the BBC, mainly working across the east of England.I also do regular work for a number of other titles and brands.I am founder and editor of Norfolk Rocks (norfolkrocks.uk), which covers the music scene in and around the county.I am also a sub-editor for Index On Censorship’s quarterly magazine, which promotes freedom of expression around the world and shines a light on autocratic states and regimes.My work includes website writing for Confused.com and Uswitch.com, and writing for Candour and its clients.Subjects I cover include personal finance, UK and US politics, greyhound racing, music, business, and freedom of expression/civil liberties.Other titles I have contributed to include the Independent, Prospect, the Mirror, EDP Norfolk magazine, Moneywise and Classic Rock. I\'m a regular guest on BBC Radio Norfolk talking about personal finance and consumer issues.Before going freelance, I was group personal-finance editor at regional publisher Archant (formerly Eastern Counties Newspapers). I had previously been an Eastern Daily Press (EDP) reporter, sub-editor and acting business editor. I was an EDP columnist on the 2016 US presidential election.During my time at Archant, while a sub-editor, I was tasked with updating and monitoring the editorial Style Guide.Away from journalism, I have experience in PR, having helped a number of businesses obtain coverage in the regional media, and I have also worked in the public sector, for the communications team at North Norfolk District Council.I had two stints as Hon Secretary of the City Club, Norwich am a magistrate and, in a former life, I was Head Chorister at Westminster Abbey, singing at the 1986 Royal Wedding amongst other major events and services.
