ABOUT ZURI WHITE-GIBSON
I’m a content writer and editor, creative writer, communications strategist and sensitivity reader with 8+ years of varied experience in these arenas. As a Black and Queer woman with experience in the communications & editorial field with a background in social justice activism, I’m focused on storytelling and pushing forward conversations. This is done through the creation of engaging content like long-form articles, newsletters, social media copy, and dynamic online experiences. When it comes to topic area expertise, I love to create and support content focused on racial justice, mental health and wellness, gender & sexuality inclusion, disability justice, their potential intersections, and the importance of their adequate representation. As a sensitivity reader & consultant, I’ve aided nonprofit organizations, authors, and businesses with their copy, manuscripts, and social media, supporting their efforts towards culturally competent and accessible content creation and external communications. In addition to communications for other nonprofits and advocacy focused organizations, my previous experience also includes facilitation, workshop development, program management, content marketing, and community organizing. I’ve written for several publications, including Stacker, Healthline, Prism, HuffPost, Mic, and many more.
