About Zachariah Tomazin
An entrepreneurial Product Leader with over 14 years of experience building platforms with massive leverage in the Fintech and Insurtech space. More than five years of people management experience working primarily as a player and coach. This includes organically building a team suited for the data platform space. I hired & grew a team of PMs to serve our customers in ways that work for the business (thanks Marty!).I\'m an idealist with a streak of pragmatism and believe that results are the primary measurement of progress. In my last few performance reviews, my manager has described me as someone who \"mentally swings for the fences\". Customer obsessed - goes to extreme lengths to build empathy for users. I taught myself Python so that I could \"method act\" my way into understanding what a group of data scientists and engineers might consider a good product. I put that to work and designed some incredible interfaces for our platform APIs. Demonstrated in my Github page. If you like Fantasy football and are interested in screen-scraping, I have some code in there that was pretty fun to write.I\'ve been on the tip of the spear of Capital One\'s Cloud migration as a Product Manager. Not only did my teams build the foundational platform for Credit Line Increases on AWS, we re-envisioned how that program worked to enable better underwriting & faster speed to market.Will do whatever it takes to ship: I\'ve also partnered with data scientists to develop internal feature calculation engines that turn data external to Capital One into insights that are consumed by Machine Learning models. I created a data-driven approach to ensure that code was performant enough to be deployed in the critical flow of a credit application. And, when the team needed it, I even wrote some code and tests!Besides all that, I like to build things, with my hands, too. Whether fully renovating my house, woodworking, gardening, or building two e-commerce businesses (with a successful exit), I apply critical thinking skills to obstacles and create a solution.I love meeting new professional acquaintances.
