ABOUT ZOIE GERONIMI

Hello, I\'m Zoie Geronimi, a Computer Science and African American Studies student at Columbia University, passionate about the intersection of technology, social justice, and the law.As a Research Fellow at the Eric H. Holder Jr. Initiative for Civil and Political Rights, I analyze systemic inequalities within the criminal legal system, exploring policy solutions that promote equity and justice. My research specifically examines biases in predictive policing models and their impact on over-policed communities.Previously, I was a Research Assistant at Columbia’s SAFE Lab, where I studied technology’s role in mitigating social harms. I also worked as an intern for Columbia\'s Admissions Rural Recruitment Committee, working to improve access for underrepresented students.Beyond my technical and research work, I am committed to legal advocacy and systemic reform. I founded EmpowerNYC, an app designed to educate NYC tenants about their housing rights, which I had the opportunity to present to government officials and housing organizations at the Future of Cities Conference. I also lead Tech for Social Good, a student-run initiative that partners with nonprofits to provide pro bono technical solutions—ranging from software prototypes to data analytics support.Recognized as a U.S. Presidential Scholar (2022) and consistently on the Dean’s List, I am driven by a commitment to ethical technology, equity, and justice. If you\'d like to collaborate or discuss opportunities, please feel free to reach out at z••••••••@columbia.edu. I look forward to connecting!
