About Zoey Thomas
Media production and statistics student at the University of Florida, born and raised in the Orlando area. Lifelong writer planning to combine dual interests in storytelling and statistics to pursue a career in data journalism. I\'m currently serving as Spring editor-in-chief for UF\'s student-run newsroom, The Independent Florida Alligator. Over the summer, I interned for the Orlando Sentinel, where I earned over 10 front-page stories in as many weeks. I\'m proficient in programming and markup languages R, Python, HTML and CSS, and I\'ve built web apps including a search tool for UF faculty salaries and one for Elliott Smith lyrics (linked below). I\'ve also enjoyed learning web scraping, manipulating databases with SQL, and using QGIS for geo analysis.
