About Zoe W.

I am a Senior Engineering major at Harvey Mudd College, where I have enjoyed taking courses in radio frequency, microprocessors, software defined radio, electromagnetism, and special relativity. This year, I have been pursuing coursework in integrated circuitry for radio frequencies, building and programming microprocessors, and system on chip design. Through the HMC Clinic program, summer research with professor Jason Gallicchio, and a student internship with MIT Lincoln Laboratories, I have gained additional experience and interest in working with radio frequencies, software defined radio, and cyber physical systems. Over the past two years I have been a part of the Harvey Mudd Biophotonics research lab, where I have worked with in-vivo imaging systems, multi-core fiber bundles, and post-processing of captured data in both the time and frequency domain. Within academia I focus on a mixture of electrical engineering and computer science. I have experience programming in Java, with comprehension of basic data structures, specifically binary trees, stacks, queues, and search algorithms. I have also had experience programming in languages Python, C++, MATLAB, Linux, and Dr. Racket. I currently work in Harvey Mudd\'s machine shop as a shop proctor, where I ensure user safety and proper use of machinery. I additionally work as an AE tutor for Mudd\'s introduction to Engineering course, E79. After completion of Manufacturing and Design in freshman year, my team of four other students and I received the Davies Engineering Award to recognize outstanding performance. I am currently also a member of Harvey Mudd’s Tau Beta Pi Chapter, where I serve as secretary. While I enjoy technical electives and working with computers, robotics, and physics, I have additional interest in the arts. My current humanities concentration is studio Art, and I have enjoyed additional arts in the Achilles to Alexander class in Pomona, as well as being a member of group smooth dances like the Viennese Waltz within the Claremont College\'s 5C Ballroom Dance Club. My study abroad in Spain brought me to locations like the Alhambra and the windmills of Don Quixote, both of which I loved reading in their original language.
