ABOUT ZOE MIGIONI

I’m Zoe, a rising senior, currently studying Biology at Johnson C. Smith University with a minor in Bioinformatics, preparing for a career as a physician. Now that we’re past the pleasantries, let me tell you about the little girl (literally… I’m 5’05) with very big dreams, behind the profile who grew up in Harare, the Sunshine City. Zimbabwe produces only 1.3 new doctors per people annually, with our largest medical school accepting just 180-210 students each year. Rather than let those odds define me, I crossed oceans with two suitcases (+the carry-on of course) and a full-ride scholarship to pursue that dream in the USA.And the journey has been nothing short of spectacular. Check out my posts to see more about that! 🤔But why medicine? 🩺For me, it starts with people. I genuinely care about people’s well-being, and I love seeing others whole and thriving. At the same time, I was absolutely the child Googling and asking things like “why is my stomach growling?” or “why do we sneeze?” just because I needed to know! 🧬The more I learn about the body, the more fascinated I become by its design and intelligence; its complexity, yet everything works together so intricately. For me, studying science deepens my faith and wonder. There is something profoundly beautiful about understanding how life works at both the molecular and human level.‍More recently, I\'ve discovered how data; through my experience in Bioinformatics; can revolutionize patient care, using information to prevent illnesses and improve outcomes before problems even begin. I love exploring how research and data can be translated into real solutions for people and this is where I hope to make my mark as a future physician. A few fun facts about me: • I’m a huge Danielle Steel reader (she has my heart🥹) • I absolutely love music and singing • My faith in God is deeply important to me • I’m very open-minded and love understanding the “why” behind people’s actions • 🤲 I’m ambidextrous (left hand in notebooks, right hand on the board ) • I created my own alphabet as a teen and still use it in my journals sometimes If you’re passionate about medicine, research, STEM opportunities, faith, growth, or just a meaningful conversation about nothing, let’s connect 🤍
