About Zach Nehlsen
I am from Zionsville, Indiana, currently pursuing a major in finance and accounting while minoring in sports marketing at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. My academic journey has been fueled by a passion for business. I thrive when communicating with others, multitasking, and working with numbers. In addition to academics, my active involvement in extracurricular activities like the Real Estate Club and the Cutters’ Soccer Program has significantly excelled my communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills. Currently, I am a Fund Accounting Intern at Golub Capital. In this role, I help update financial statements for various funds and collaborate with departments to automate accounting processes. This experience has strengthened my understanding of private credit and the operational side of fund management. Last summer, I worked at Crowe as a Global Private Client Services Tax Intern. I prepared tax returns for high-net-worth individuals and worked closely with senior leadership to explore how artificial intelligence can improve efficiency in the tax return process. I’ve also had the ability to develop professionally outside of internships. In 2022, I had the privilege of being part of a team that launched Crunch Fitness’ first gym in Indianapolis. This role demanded exceptional communication skills to introduce the Crunch brand to a new audience, and I gained valuable experience using tools like Excel to support business operations. Prior to Crunch I held multiple positions in landscaping, including serving as an Assistant Crew Leader with Circle City Trees and a Chemical Technician with The Greenskeeper. At Circle City Trees I gained leadership experience as I led a four-man crew responsible for planting trees ranging from to daily. During my time with the Greenskeeper, I operated a company-owned truck individually, ensuring customer satisfaction, issue resolution, and accountability. Additionally, I’ve successfully managed night shifts for Bullpen Tournaments as a Tournament Director. I continue to leverage my leadership and communication skills today in internships and various group projects, workshops, and extracurriculars at Indiana University. As I look to the future, I am eager to expand my connections with classmates and professors through involvement in clubs at Indiana University. I am actively seeking jobs that align with my future aspirations in the fields of finance and accounting, while allowing me to combine my passion for sports.
