Zion Escobar, P.E. has more than 18 years of experience transforming ideas into action as a civil engineer and green infrastructure advocate. Formerly, as a civil engineer, she provided highly specialized technical support to a diverse range of public agencies, private clients, international NGOs, engineering and landscape architecture firms.Mrs. Escobars’ contributions to her profession and community have been recognized with her being named Engineering New Record Magazines’ “Top 20 Under 40 in Texas and Louisiana” as well as the American Society of Civil Engineers “Young Engineer of the Year”.Furthering her desire to take action on ideas about community engagement, culture, sustainability & resiliency, infrastructure and how Houston\'s architectural landscape influences development patterns, she has taken on her most exciting and promising endeavor yet. She\'s was formerly the first Executive Director of the Houston Freedmen\'s Town Conservancy which serves to preserve and protect the history of Freedmen\'s Town for the benefit of future generations. As of July 2023, she taking her mission to catalyze the Rebirth of Freedmen\'s Town to the next level! With the intention of solving for the most urgent issue facing Freedmen\'s Town today, a lack of investment to trigger the equitable Rebirth of Freedmen\'s Town, Ms. Escobar is focused on impact!Whether seeking to protect communities from flooding and climate change as an engineer or preserving the history of Freedmen\'s Town and it\'s many UNESCO designated structures, the goal remains the same.
