Dr. Erdal has more than 25 years of experience in technical and business leadership, strategy development and execution, and cradle-to-cradle planning and delivery aspects of sustainable infrastructure. Currently she leads solutions and delivery teams at Black & Veatch to build resilient systems that support critical human infrastructure, such as safe implementation of potable reuse in CA and globally. She is an expert specialist in wastewater treatment, water reuse, nutrient removal, biosolids and odors/emissions handling, water recycling, membrane technologies, organic compounds toxicity and treatability issues, waste to energy, renewable energy, resource recovery and sustainable solutions implementation through planning, process development, piloting, modeling and design using conventional and alternative delivery methods of small to large systems partnering with clients and regulators in North America and around the globe. She also leads efforts to implement sustainable solutions and metrics working closely with public and private customers that include municipal utilities, cities, and agricultural, industrial, and technology companies.Her other professional activities include participation in advisory and administrative boards in collaboration with public, private and regulatory representatives, chairing research and technical practice committees, taking part in development and publication of technical papers, books and manuals of practice, as an author and a peer reviewer, and providing technical input for shaping the future direction of the field. She also provides leadership in local organizations, putting on conferences, special sessions and symposia with invited and peer reviewed presentations, and serves as a STEM and capstone project coach for higher education institutions.
