About Zeyad Zaky

My skillset and expertise exists at the intersection of Applied Research Science, Mathematical Modeling, and Computational Science. My strong foundational knowledge in Applied Math, Physics, and Numerical Methods has allowed me to impact organizations like Meta and Apple, specifically in the field of explicit eye modeling and gaze tracking. At Meta I lead ground truth data generation via explicit physics modeling, specifically accounting properly for optical lenses/stacks. My algorithmic advances have improved ground truth validation by hundreds of microns; a critical improvement in sensitive systems. Prior I spent over six years on the Apple Vision Pro Eye Tracking team. I led, owned, and innovated efforts in 2D/3D algorithm development for prescription lens correction/compensation to ensure eye tracking performance is not degraded for users who require vision correction. Besides technical innovations, I served as the team representative and expert on the matter. My initial contribution to the team involved 3D model representation which allowed us to take our model fitting parameters from to 36. This computational savings came at no cost to model fidelity and performance. My passion for mathematics allowed me to use Genetic Algorithms for parameter optimization, as well as tackling the ray-intersection problem for our surfaces. Finally, I also contributed to sensor/illumination calibration in factory station. I completed my doctorate in Professor Tarek I. Zodhi\'s Computational Materials and Manufacturing Research Lab (CMMRL) at UC Berkeley, where I developed computational modeling software in Fortran, C/C++, Python, and Matlab. I used Lattice Boltzmann Methods and Discrete Element Methods for infiltration of particle-laden flow into porous media. I have a strong interest in optimization techniques (genetic algorithms, simulated annealing) for parameter selection. Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) and Sensitivity Analysis (SA) are elements I\'ve incorporated into my work.
