ABOUT ZEVIEL PINEDA
I’m a high school senior passionate about neuroscience, medicine, and the intersection of AI and public health. My work spans from brain mapping and connectomics—where I built a supervised machine-learning pipeline for axon segmentation at the Research Science Institute (RSI)—to environmental health, where I founded CleanWaterRGV to map arsenic violations in South Texas, Texas, and National drinking water.As a two-time ISEF finalist (4th place Translational Medical Science, 2024) and National History Day Finalist (3rd place Group Exhibit, 2023; 4th place Group Exhibit, 2024), I’ve shown both scientific rigor and communication skills, sharing complex research with scientific communities and local families alike. I also lead SATRGV, a free SAT/PSAT tutoring program that has mentored hundreds of students in my community.What drives me is a commitment to bridging cutting-edge science with real-world impact: from community arsenic testing to AI-powered connectomics to equitable access in education. Long-term, I aim to become a neurosurgeon and researcher, investigating how environmental factors shape brain health and developing innovative interventions.
