ABOUT ZENZELE N. F. COOPER
I worked for over a decade in the NYC arts and culture landscape. As an actress I trained and devised theater as a member of a physical theater company for six years. I’ve toured internationally, performed off-broadway, on television, and in new media. As an administrator, I assisted executive level leadership at Fortune 500 companies and managed programs at a historic site and cultural center. As an educator/director, my instructional praxis is built upon a process of decolonization. I structure safe spaces that nurture exploration, experimentation, and research. Through collaborative and creative methods, we empower one another to revolutionize our ways of being and the cultural ecosystems we inhabit. My objective is to create healing spaces that cultivate a community of critical thinkers who are self-determined and culturally centered. As a cultural organizer, I activate my creativity and organizational skills to advance cultural institutions and artists as a practice of liberation.
