Providing specialist advice, guidance and leadership on (and authorship and delivery of bespoke training (>100 attendances), and mentoring, in) a range of analytical techniques, tools and bespoke utilities including: quality, service improvement and redesign (QSIR) measurement and analytics; demand and capacity (D&C) modelling; and statistical process control (SPC).Bespoke D&C modelling including the development of utilities that discriminate between the sustainable and unsustainable components of a backlog; identifying the functional relationship between the target period to clear the unsustainable component and the required additional waiting list initiative capacity during that period; and the required additional capacity to operate a rightsized service with a sustainable backlog at a target demand percentile and utilisation thereafter.D&C modelling to: proof-of-concept / be awarded funding for the £43.5M transformation of one of the Trust’s UTC (streaming and minors) and ED (majors and resuscitation) A&E functions; and the £5.3M investment in two new state-of-the-art operating theatres.The application of machine learning to identify the features that are associated with a patient having a high vs. low propensity to DNA (did not attend); and development of a segmentation model that returned a Propensity to DNA Score which the Trust used as the foundation of a pilot contact strategy that significantly reduced (from 12.8% to 4.9%) the DNA% in our target cohort at no additional cost. The project was shortlisted in the HSJ Digital Awards 2025 supporting elective recovery through digital category.Software used: Dr Foster, Excel, Orange, R, SQL Server, T-SQL and VBA.
