About Zelalem Ayalew

Zelalem is a first-generation junior pursuing a BS in Bioengineering with a focus on the Biopharmaceutical track at Lehigh University. He has developed technical skills in mammalian cell culture, 3D Bio CAD design, bioprinting, confocal microscopy, and intermediate Python programming. Originally driven by a childhood dream of becoming a doctor to improve patients\' lives, Zelalem discovered his passion for bioengineering and now aims to address healthcare challenges through scientific innovation. His hands-on experience spans tissue engineering, cell culturing, imaging, and data analysis, along with creating visual research showcases such as workflow animations that illustrate the progress of his work. Zelalem is particularly interested in biopharmaceuticals, stem cell engineering, immunology, and the bioprinting of tissue constructs. Zelalem’s long-term goal is to contribute to the development of advanced medical technologies and therapeutics. Driven by a strong commitment to research and development, he is eager to leverage his skills in biopharmaceutical R&D and drug development to tackle pressing healthcare issues and deliver impactful solutions for global health.
