ABOUT ZEENAT KHAKER WALA

I am a structural biologist with broad expertise in protein expression, purification, crystallization, and structure determination using X-ray crystallography. I am skilled in collecting and processing diffraction data at synchrotron facility (PX-BL21,Indus-2, India), and proficient in the use of computational tools for structure analysis and validation.During my PhD, I extensively applied molecular biology techniques, including the engineering and modification of expression plasmids to develop a range of fusion proteins with tailored linkers to enhance solubility and stability. In addition to my experimental background, I independently trained myself in molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and related computational analyses to deepen my understanding of protein behavior.I am also well-versed in the application of AI-based protein design tools such as RFdiffusion, which I have employed to design and evaluate novel miniprotein binders. This integration of wet-lab techniques with cutting-edge computational methods enables me to approach structural biology problems with a versatile, interdisciplinary perspective.My long-term goal is to contribute to the rational design of functional miniproteins for therapeutic, diagnostic, and industrial applications by combining experimental and AI-driven approaches.
