Design, provisioning and operation of a global, multi-tier AWS architecture for HA and low-latency web and API services (CloudFront, Nginx, Lambda, ALB, EKS, RDS, etc.) serving millions of customers. → Management of dev and production compute clusters at and 100s-of-petabytes scale. → Security responsibility for production systems, customer data, and build systems across GoPro web and API services. → Primary responsibility for production operations including observability (monitoring and alerting), on-call rotations spanning two continents, maintenance and upgrade schedules, and incident response processes. → Lead the team designing and building three generations of AWS architectures including embracing infra-as-code, the shift to containers and finally to orchestration with ECS and EKS. ⇨ During this time we grew paying web service subscribers to over 1.3M. → Maintenance and continual improvement to CI/CD systems (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions). → Supported yearly global product launches involving load and scale planning, autoscaling, event management, and troubleshooting. → Hired and grew a critical engineering team across Europe and US locations → Continually leveraged opportunities to manage and lower cloud cost during customer growth → Presented our work at venues large and small internationally (video and case study links below)
