ABOUT DAVID ZAMBRANO

I am a highly motivated and passionate structural engineer, determined to challenge the stereotype of engineers as introverted number crunchers. I thrive in both independent and collaborative settings, whether client-facing or behind the scenes. Through a variety of opportunities, I have gained experience in managing teams, projects, and client relationships, as well as taking on technical and mentorship roles. I am committed to continuing my growth as both a technical expert and a successful manager, while also expanding my involvement in the business side of engineering.I hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, focusing on structural engineering. Additionally, I am a licensed professional and structural engineer with active licenses in several states.In my current role as a Structural Project Manager, I am focused on structural analysis and design for both commercial and industrial projects. As I continue to settle into my role, I am dedicated to contributing to the growth of the structural team and expanding the company’s structural offerings. This includes overseeing the execution of complex projects, managing client relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality engineering services. Additionally, I am working to guide the team’s technical development and mentor junior engineers, with the goal of fostering a culture of continuous improvement.At my previous employer, I developed a method to assess the structural integrity and long-term degradation of concrete facilities and steel structures, integrating structural mechanics, FEA, nondestructive testing, and predictive material analysis. I also managed proposals for structural health monitoring (SHM) installations, led the development of next-generation SHM sensors, and researched opportunities for value-added capabilities. In addition, I held leadership and technical roles within multidisciplinary teams, performing structural analysis, design, and remediation for industrial structures and foundations across the U.S. and South America. This included developing 3D models, conducting engineering calculations, and creating tools to optimize processes. As a team leader, I led a team of up to eight engineers, drove quality control and process improvements, and trained staff to ensure integration and continuous development.In my spare time I enjoy both playing and watching sports, traveling someplace new with my wife, being outdoors, experimenting in the kitchen, and going out for walks with my dog.
