ABOUT ZAHRA RAFIE

I\'m a Social Scientist, holding a PhD from London School of Economic and Political Science, London, England. I have been teaching, lecturing and consulting for over 25 years. I am a committed social activist in particular in the field of gender equality and minority rights. I have worked with many international organizations such as Amnesty International and UNICEF and continue my passion for social justice through NGO work. I believe that effective and long lasting change can only occur from grassroots up. Many academics are cut off from the realities of everyday life. There is a detrimental disconnect between social theory and social practice. I’m committed to creating a praxis of change that draws on intellectual theory to promote positive social change at the grass roots level.I have over 14+ years of experience in following areas:• Inter and intra faith dialogue (I have academic and practical expertise in the field of Sunni-Shi’i dialogue).• Think tank/consulting expertise in the field of foreign policy, political theory and race relations.• 14+years of experience in the field of gender equality and religious freedom.• 14+ years of experience in minority and refugee rights and activism.• 14+ years of academic teaching experience (graduate and postgraduate level).• 10+ years of experience with youth empowerment and teaching.
