About Zahara Mushinge
As a dual citizen of Zambia and the United States, I am driven by a mission to empower youth, bridge global divides, and advocate for meaningful change. My life’s work is rooted in resilience, collaboration, and a belief in the power of young voices to shape a better future. Currently, I serve as Co-President of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC), where I advocate for student-athletes and have led efforts to secure over in scholarships. As Vice President of Membership for the North Carolina Association of Teen Democrats and President of the Mecklenburg County Teen Democrats, I work to amplify the voices of young leaders in politics, ensuring their perspectives are heard at every level. Beyond leadership roles, I’ve represented youth perspectives on global stages, including meetings with diplomats and policymakers, panels on world issues, and advocacy campaigns addressing mental health, education access, and school safety. Whether collaborating with local communities or speaking on behalf of international youth, I’m committed to creating solutions that transcend borders. My diverse experiences—from volunteering with U.S-Africa youth engagement programs to raising awareness for critical social issues—reflect a deep appreciation for global perspectives. My cherished collection of keychains, gathered from places like South Africa, Italy, and Dubai, serves as a reminder of the beauty in diversity and the stories that connect us all. I aspire to continue building bridges between communities, empowering youth as global advocates, and contributing to a more equitable and inclusive world. Let’s connect to share ideas, create opportunities, and drive lasting impact together!
