ABOUT ZACK MATHENY

Zack Matheny is the former President of Downtown Greensboro Incorporated, which is an independent, non-profit agency established in 1997 to work closely with the private sector and local government to stimulate new investment and interest in Greensboro’s Central Business District. Mr. Matheny’s background blends government, nonprofit and civic involvement experience. Matheny holds a degree in textile management from North Carolina State University. He was a financial consultant at A.G. Edwards Investments, a director of capital transactions division of Bell Partners, and president of White Oak Capital. Prior to his new role as President of DGI, Matheny was a four term Greensboro City Councilman and served 7 ½ years, and reelected serving from 20••••25 in his fifth term. In 2005 Zack received the Business Journal’s 40 Leaders Under 40 award. In addition, he has chaired the economic development task force and the public safety task force for the Greensboro City Council. Matheny’s community involvement includes: financial instructor at Guilford Technical Community College; Big Brothers, Big Sisters; board member and past master plan oversight committee member for downtown Greensboro; Center for Creative Leadership – Piedmont Triad Leadership institute; operating group and member services council for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce; Executive committee member of the Wyndham Championship; former citizen advisory board member of the Guilford County Comprehensive Plan update; former Prelude Steering member and 2005 Vanguard fundraising chair of the United Arts Council; former Zoning Commission member for the City of Greensboro; fundraising chair for the Greensboro Bicentennial; Future Fund steering committee member, Can’t Wait for the Ballpark committee chair, and Making Connections Around the Table host for the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro; Greensboro opera board member; K for Kids member; Loaned Executive for the Greensboro United Way; and a Member of the Greensboro Sports Council.
