ABOUT ZACHARY WEEKS

Passionate Disability Advocate and Accessibility Consultant Passionate about disability issues and social justice, I advocate for raising awareness about ableism, discrimination, and accessibility challenges through consultation, workshops, and public speaking. Driving Positive Change through Accessibility Consulting I am an Alberta-based disability advocate and accessibility consultant. Born and raised in Edmonton, I have established myself as a prominent figure in the media, serving as a spokesperson on disability issues since the age of 18. In addition to my advocacy work, I have made significant contributions to various building developments, lending my valuable consulting expertise to projects such as the Glenrose\'s Bill Black Auditorium, the Walterdale Theatre, and Rogers Place. Recognizing my outstanding efforts, I was honored with the Queen\'s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 and the Queen\'s Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2023. I am also proud to have participated in the Governor General\'s Canadian Leadership Conference, an accomplishment that has further shaped my journey. Championing Inclusivity and Community Engagement My commitment to promoting inclusivity goes beyond media and building projects. From 2011 to 2014, I served as the co-chair of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities planning committee in Edmonton, actively contributing to raising awareness and fostering change. Additionally, I have played an instrumental role as a member of the City of Edmonton\'s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) since 2013. Initially chairing the Community Engagement Committee until 2016, I then took on the responsibility of AAC chair until 2019. Join Me in Creating an Inclusive Future 🤝 Drawing upon my lifelong immersion in the construction world, I have recently partnered with my father\'s crane company, E-Z Pickens Crane Service. Building upon my extensive industry experience, I have launched my own accessibility consulting services. By merging my firsthand experience as a disabled person with my knowledge of construction, I am determined to drive positive change and create inclusive environments for individuals with disabilities. I am passionate about creating a more accessible and equitable society. I eagerly seek collaborations with organizations and individuals who share this vision.
