ABOUT ZACH STERN

Patent attorney experienced in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, providing opinions regarding patent validity and infringement, and counseling regarding design alternatives. Mr. Stern has represented both foreign and domestic clients of all sizes in protecting a broad array of inventions. His technical experience spans both consumer and industrial technologies, including camera optics, sensors and image processing, video, portable cellular communication/computing devices, integrated circuit fabrication, satellite and ground-based telecommunication, industrial machines, power generation systems, utility grid power controls, and aircraft and tracking equipment. Mr. Stern draws upon more than 18 years of engineering experience as a principal engineer, engineering manager and program director for Fairchild Industries, Orbital Sciences Corporation and Smiths Aerospace. While an engineer, Mr. Stern developed custom integrated circuits, high-density and ruggedized electronic packaging, and electronic sub-systems for aircraft, ground vehicles and satellites. Building upon his formal education in control algorithms and artificial intelligence, Mr. Stern was formerly the chief software architect for a large multi-national simulation project including detailed aircraft simulation models that could be executed autonomously or in real-time with dynamic input from human actors. Mr. Stern also managed a multi-million dollar program to provide urban mass transit system operators with tools to assist dispatchers in efficiently correcting service disruptions. Mr. Stern is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
