About Zach Schimke
As an engineer in the Office of the CTO, I get to work with bleeding edge technologies to help meet the need of our HPC/AI customers.I was an embedded systems design engineer at SMART Embedded (was Artesyn Embedded Technologies / Emerson Network Power) where both my working knowledge of electrical engineering topics (digital design, mixed-signal circuitry, and PCB Design to name a few) and ability to quickly learn new skills (Solidworks & NX CAD, LabView, Optics) allowed me to provide a high level of multifaceted support for any given challenge.Before jumping headfirst into embedded systems, I had my first taste while working for the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University where I worked on several NASA-funded projects such as the Micro-LAB, the Mars Instrument Development Project (MIDP), and the OSIRIS-REx Thermal Emission Spectrometer (OTES). During my undergraduate years, I started out as a Systems Administrator wherein I built and supported mission-critical computer systems in areas such as system security, database management, cluster computing, website development and system consolidation/virtualization. When the opportunity arises, I have further developed these skills by providing consultation services to local Phoenix businesses, such as Homesmart International and the Baker-Wee.
