About Zachary Stern

AICP Certified Planner and Data and Geospatial Analyst with a demonstrated history of working in the Disaster Recovery, City Planning, Affordable Housing, and Public Policy fields. I bring a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing the challenges and needs of communities both large and small. With skills in Geographic Information Systems, Research and Analysis, Data Management/Automation, Business Intelligence and Process Improvement, Public Engagement and Speaking, and Professional Writing, I pair a Master\'s of Science in Community and Regional Planning from The University of Texas at Austin with over 17 years of professional experience across the planning field. Throughout my career I have worked extensively with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in desktop, enterprise, and cloud based environments and incorporated ETL processes into my work flows utilizing Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) and Power Automate. In my most recent work I am developing applications and data workflows that leverage the full stack of Microsoft Power Platform programs - SharePoint Lists, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI - and often paired with FME to better store, move, and visualize data, allowing for improved user experiences for both internal staff and external customers. In addition I am building out applications for funding using geo-enabled software such as ESRIs Survey 123 connect to assist applicants in accessing disaster recovery funding.My work has varied in scale from writing comprehensive plans for small cities (under to writing federally mandated action plans for the expenditure of $10 Billion in Disaster Recovery/Mitigation funds for the state of Texas. I\'m always looking to learn new skills and gain knowledge in new areas of interest with the goal of expanding my areas of expertise to help the communities I serve.
