   The Imperial Group, strategically located in Chicago, got its start in the metal industry with a small family-owned industrial recycling company in 1966. Over the last 30 years, the Imperial Group has expanded into complimentary areas of the business.In 1995 the group purchased Imperial Zinc Corporation, a leading manufacturer of zinc anodes and alloys. More recently, it expanded its operations into aluminum with the acquisition of two secondary aluminum smelters which operate under the Imperial Aluminum name. The group also acquired Kormet Metals, an aluminum brokerage business supplying various mills. Its recycling group grew with the purchase of Midwest Industrial Metals in 2012 and Exeon Processors in 2014. Later on, it expanded its manufacturing group with the purchase of Mayco Industries, the largest lead fabricator in the United States. Most recently, the group entered into the aerospace industry through the founding of Setna IO.
