ABOUT ZACHARY MANDEL
Currently, I’m a Medical Assistant at California Head and Neck Specialists, where I support patient care and ENT procedures with a focus on clinical efficiency, precision, and compassionate service.I am an incoming MD candidate for the class of 2030, beginning in Fall 2026.Previously, I worked as a Research Associate at Amydis Inc, developing fluorescent biomarkers to detect neurodegenerative plaques in the human retina. My work involved protocol development, clinical data management, and translational research aimed at advancing early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.I earned my B.S. in Molecular Biology from Wake Forest University, where I studied microbial pathogenesis and neurobiology using techniques including expansion microscopy, PCR, immunofluorescence, and quantitative image analysis.Starting in Fall 2026, I will be pursuing my Doctor of Medicine (MD) at UMass Chan Medical School, where I look forward to expanding my clinical and research experience to improve access and equity in patient care.
