Utilizes the Tax Litigation Counsel Automated Tracking System (TLCATS) to store and retrieve case data throughout all phases of the tax litigation process - Tracks case events and due dates for documents due to the taxpayer, Tax Court, Federal District Courts, Federal Court of Claims, Federal Courts of Appeals, and Supreme Court- Monitors trial calendars and provides the U.S. Tax Court with a status of those cases on the respective due date- Takes appropriate precautions to protect sensitive or confidential material in accordance to the Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)- Prepares and assembles tax documents such as dockets, petitions, and calendars in line with the needs of various IRS field offices - Receives incoming documents regarding tax cases; reviews outgoing correspondence for potential discrepancies; and distributes documents to the appropriate IRS regional offices via the Electronic Tax Court System (eTCS)- Organizes case documents such as Revenue Rulings and Revenue Procedures - Utilizes the Counsel Automated Systems Environment- Management Information System (CASE-MIS) to loan case files to authorized parties for tax litigation purposes- Organizes, coordinates, and prioritizes assignments in accordance with established guidelines; takes charge and reprioritize assignments as circumstances dictate- Promptly examines tax petitions, identifies discrepancies in petitioner’s submission, and notifies responsible IRS regional office - Assembles dockets and trial calendars—ensuring litigators and court personnel receive case submissions timely - Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of the Office’s automated systems and software applications - Adapts to changes in automated systems that affect branch operations
