About Zachary Bates
I build data systems that move P&C insurance decisions from gut feel to evidence. At Nationwide, I design end-to-end analytics pipelines in Dataiku DSS (Snowflake compute, S3 storage), build production BI in Tableau, and write Python automation that replaces manual reporting workflows. I also hold a patent in geospatial visualization and query tools — a project that came out of rethinking how underwriters interact with exposure data spatially. What drives me is closing the gap between the people who build data systems and the people who need to trust them. I\'ve spent years doing both — writing the pipeline in the morning and presenting the findings to leadership in the afternoon.
