ABOUT ZACHARY ABELES

With a zest for connecting to people, a previous career as an educator, and an established professional proficiency in Spanish, I have shifted my focus to healthcare to expand on my deep appreciation for helping others. I am eager to contribute at the bedside to provide superior patient-centered care, augmented by my compassion and cultural sensitivity, wherein I also bring a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. I previously earned a Bachelor of Science with degrees in Biology and Spanish, followed by a Master of Arts in Spanish. Professionally, I possess a versatile skill set, which includes diverse experience within critical care, which I have developed as an Open Water Emergency Medical Responder and certified firefighter. Additionally, I am well-versed in pain management- a core aspect of care management, which I gained a practical understanding of while employed as a Medical Assistant, and I am also a Certified Nurse Assistant. My interests within the field of nursing include: pediatric care, critical care, and community/public health initiatives, while my passions are specifically aligned with opportunities that will allow me to provide care to neonates, children, and their families in an intensive care clinical environment. I recently earned a degree in Nursing Practice through the ABSN program from Quinnipiac School of Nursing, a holistically endorsed program. I am excited to leverage my knowledge and clinical experience to take an active role in delivering on superior patient assessment, intervention, and healing measures, while contributing to a collaborative environment as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with Yale New Haven Hospital.
