About Zachary Volpe
Zach serves as a Special Assistant and Congressional Strategist for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Zach also attends Georgetown University Law Center as a Juris Doctor candidate in the evening section specializing in national security law. In the past, Zach served as a Research and Staff Assistant for the Senate Armed Services Committee and in the Office of Senator Cory A. Booker. As an intern, Zach also supported both the communications and legislative staff on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Zach holds a Master\'s of Arts in Security Studies with distinction as a Presidential Management Fellow Finalist and a Bachelor\'s of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.Zach has published academic research and commentary in the Georgetown Security Studies Review. His areas of interest include space law and policy, strategic stability and nuclear weapons, missile defense, spectrum management, security assistance, defense acquisitions and trade, defense industrial base resiliency and capacity, production diplomacy, economic security, and national security budgeting.In high school, he staffed local campaigns and the offices of state legislators. Later, Zach interned for both the Borgen Project and Foreign Policy for America to increase funding for the International Affairs Budget. In college, Zach supported a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India as a Research Assistant focused on the importance of civil society institutions for maintaining democratic governance. Zach also interned for Senator Gary C. Peters, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Outside of politics, Zach delights in taking photos (portraits and landscapes), hiking, and engaging with LGBTQ+ and Hindu communities.
