1. Estimator and Project Manager

   Thornapple Excavating, Inc.

   May 2021 — Present

   As an Estimator, I work with the rest of the estimating and pre-construction team to complete bids for commercial construction projects throughout West Michigan. Typical projects will have a site work budget anywhere from $500k up to around $4 million; although, we will bid a project of any size as long as it’s the right one! Often, we will work directly with developers several years before the anticipated start of the project to help get things off the ground. As a Project Manager, I work alongside our Foremen in the field, Site Superintendents, and Developers to the goal to complete any project under budget and ahead of schedule. While our site work foremen are responsible for the day-to-day management of a job, I try to keep a foot view of everything going on and any foresee challenges we may face down the road. Working on projects budgets so far in advance gives us the unique ability to assist in the design process and look at all the possible ways we can keep our customers and ourselves profitable on even the most complicated jobs.
