About Zach Harig

After growing up in a rural community in Allegan County, Michigan, I was provided an incredible opportunity at 15 years old to become a sports intern for WXMI FOX 17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During that internship, I began shooting, editing, and scripting sports for four years prior to attending The University of Toledo in the fall of 2014.During my freshman year at Toledo in 2014, I was hired at Buckeye Cable Sports Network as a production assistant. Over the next three years, I worked my way up through different roles including a live events cameraman, audio operator, studio cameraman, play-by-play, color analyst, and producer. As a college senior in the spring of 2018, I was offered a full-time sports reporter and producer position at BCSN which I gladly accepted and kept me in Toledo, Ohio covering local and regional sports.In August of 2018, I was returned back to where I received my start at WXMI FOX 17 as a full-time weekend sports anchor and reporter. For the next three-plus years, I reported on local and regional high school, college, and national sports.After years of missing family and working weekends, I chose to pursue a slight career change. In November of 2021, I accepted the Community & Public Relations Coordinator position at Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, Michigan where I oversee the community donations and sponsorships budgets, volunteer efforts, media relations, videography, and special events.In July of 2022, I accepted the District Communications Coordinator role at Hamilton Community Schools and look forward to increasing social media engagement, community presence, and active communication to a wonderful community.
