ABOUT JOSEPH YU ZHANG
I am an Ecological Restoration Engineer, and I currently focus on stream restoration, wetland creation, and improving watershed function. I have broad experience in supporting hydrologic and hydraulic model development and calculation, natural stable channel design, aquatic habitat development, watershed health assessment, flood analysis, wetland establishment, and low-tech process based restoration implementation. I have managed and designed a large-scale restoration project which includes 40 miles of stream restoration and enhancement, and thousands of acres of wetland re-establishment. I have also worked as the lead engineer on many small-scale to medium-scale stream and wetland restoration projects. I created drainage analysis and designs for green energy facilities. I received the Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, which extends my experience in effective water/wastewater treatment technologies development, water supply system design for developing countries, alternative disinfection methods analysis, and water quality monitoring. Additionally, I have a background in agricultural resources and the environment, which includes soil and crops nutrition analysis, effects of fertilizers on soil, water, and plants monitoring, crop cultivation, and hydroponics. From my multi-disciplinary experience and unique background, I developed my passion to design stream systems that will reduce the impacts we have made on the natural environment. I thrive in team-oriented environments where different opinions are shared in working towards our common goal.
