ABOUT YUTIAN ZHOU
Yutian Zhou received the BEng (Hons) degree and the PhD degree both in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2011 and The University of Manchester, Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2015, respectively. He has joined the Energy Consulting team at Arup in 2018. Prior to Arup, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on analysing and assessing the resilience and reliability of smart power and energy systems, including capacity credit of renewable generation resources and distributed energy resources, as well as microgrids with a background of multiple energy vectors (such as renewable energy sources, demand-side responses from both electricity and heat customers, as well as various types of energy storage). He specialises in modelling various energy resources and system operation of power and energy systems, performing systematic studies on power system operation and flexibility, as well as energy system design and planning. He has a good understanding of the British electricity system built on over 3 years’ research experience. He is also a strong team player, who works well in a multidisciplinary consulting team and also has been collaborating with multidisciplinary researchers, and good at communicating complex information such as disseminating research findings and technical design choices to a diverse range of stakeholders and clients from the industry, the Government and the financial sector.
