About Yusuf Poonawala

Accomplished engineer and marketing professional with more than 30 years’ experience in the A/E/C industry, serving the federal, public, and private sectors nationally and internationally. Has been instrumental in successful client pursuits and has subsequently served as Project Executive/Manager and Technical Advisor on many of these vital projects, including design-build and design-bid-build delivery methods. Contributions to the engineering industry along the Eastern US Corridor include projects for NYSDOT, MTA Construction and Development, NJDOT, DDOT, New York State Thruway Authority, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Nassau County. He is also involved in projects for federal agencies such as USDOT, USAID, US Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Highway Administration, and US Fish and Wildlife Service. As Senior Vice President of Operations and Business Development, manage construction inspection/construction management/design services for infrastructure and facilities projects; represent the firm at professional and industry organizations; negotiate teaming arrangements; plan, schedule and manage sales efforts; develop comprehensive annual business and marketing plans; conduct strategic research in support of the firm’s designated market sectors and to explore new markets; assess potential pursuits in regard to their ability to meet the firm’s strategic positioning and goals; and train management staff in the delivery of effective, winning client presentations. A Professional Engineer in 11 states including NY, CT, PA, MD, TX, VA, RI, NJ, FL, ME and the District of Columbia; a certified ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 19011:2018 QMS Lead Auditor; an ASCE Fellow; an active member of ASCE, ASHE, CMAA, SAME, and WEF; and a Practicing Institute of Engineering evaluator, with responsibility for approving continuing education seminars for PDH accreditation in New York State. Co-authored/presented technical papers published in the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical Engineering.
