Stock Shock is a board game and web-based application designed to make investment literacy more engaging for children and easier for teachers to teach. As a team member, I have taken on multiple roles since its inception. My journey began with research and development, where my co-founder and I playtested the game extensively. We focused on integrating key financial literacy concepts to ensure the educational value was intact while simultaneously refining the game\'s mechanics to create an enjoyable and accessible experience. This process involved iterative playtesting across North America to perfect the balance between education and engagement.Following the development phase, I spearheaded the manufacturing process, overseeing every detail to ensure a high-quality product. From selecting box colors to determining card thickness, I meticulously finalized each component, ensuring the game met the highest standards of durability and design. Once the game was fully funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, we transitioned to selling directly to schools.Currently, I lead efforts to expand the game\'s impact by enhancing its utility for educators. This involves developing a complementary web application and creating curriculum-aligned learning packages. I collaborate closely with educators to refine these resources, ensuring they effectively support teachers in delivering engaging financial literacy lessons. Stock Shock continues to grow as an innovative tool for empowering the next generation with essential financial skills.

ABOUT YUSUF ABDERRAHMAN
Hello! I\'m Yusuf, a biomedical engineer, researcher, and startup founder working at the intersection of healthcare technology and education innovation.I am the co-founder and Product Lead of Stock Shock, a financial literacy platform designed to make complex financial decision-making engaging and accessible for students. Stock Shock combines classroom-ready simulations, a physical board game, and a digital learning platform to help students learn budgeting, investing, and financial decision-making in a safe environment that reflects the modern AI-influenced financial landscape.Alongside this work, I recently completed my Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto and currently work at the University Health Network (Toronto General Hospital Research Institute) in the Nanthakumar Lab. My research focuses on advancing cardiac electrophysiology through computational signal analysis, optical mapping, and novel catheter-based mapping technologies.My work involves developing signal-processing tools and experimental methods to better understand cardiac activation and repolarization patterns, including work on repolarization mapping, pacing artifact detection, and depth localization of arrhythmic sources. A key focus is understanding how emerging mapping technologies and therapies such as pulsed field ablation (PFA) are evolving, bridging academic research with clinical and industry applications.Across both research and entrepreneurship, I’m motivated by building tools that create real-world impact — whether that’s improving cardiac mapping technologies in the EP lab or helping students build the financial skills they’ll need for the future.I am currently working toward my Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and always enjoy connecting with people working in biomedical engineering, MedTech, education, and technology-driven innovation.
