About Yuri Calderon
Rural, small, charter, and nontraditional education systems operate under sustained pressure: constrained resources, layered compliance obligations, and governance environments shaped by shifting policy and political conditions. When governance, operations, and accountability drift out of alignment, organizations lose coherence. Over time, this weakens leadership continuity and places mission-driven work at risk.School districts, charter schools, education organizations, boards, leaders, families, and communities who heroically carry responsibility for educating students in environments that demand durability, restraint, and disciplined decision-making.For 30 plus years, my priority has been supporting and empowering education leadership, student access, and organizational governance. As a Board Member for the National Rural Education Association, this legacy mandate becomes even more focused.

Small School Districts\' Association
Jun 2024 — Present · CA, US
Established in January 1983, the Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA) advocates for California\'s smaller districts with ADA’s under 2,500 students. Starting with four districts, it now holds over 350 members, representing over two-thirds of the small school districts in the state. SSDA provides legislative advocacy and practical programs to help small school districts save time, money, and achieve impactful results for students. The SSDA\'s success stems from the dedication of small school district administrators, emphasizing that small schools achieve significant outcomes.
