About Ysabella Sosa

Hi everyone! I\'m Ysabella, a junior at the University of Oregon. I\'m currently studying journalism and Spanish. I hope to one day make it onto the screens of millions as a news reporter. I carry a multitude of skills ranging from social media, news reporting and videography.I became a New York Times Corps member in September 2025. As part of a cohort of 19 college students, we have the opportunity to attend trainings on video production, artificial intelligence and reporting as part of NYT talent-mentorship program. In addition, I work with my NYT mentor to develop video journalism skills. I\'m also an intern at the Eugene Weekly. I write articles weekly on community events, local businesses for city’s only alternative weekly with a print circulation of I also seek out stories on immigration and the local Latino community. I also work at UO\'s independent student publication, The Daily Emerald. As the digital managing and socials editor, I developed and launched a weekly sports newsletter. In addition, I design, schedule and posts short-form videos and static posts daily. Plus, I oversee a desk of eight student journalists who help expand The Emerald’s feed on Instagram and TikTok.
