ABOUT JOHANNA YOYO ROMERO
Johanna \"Yoyo\" Romero (they/them) is a first-generation, nonbinary, Salvadoran community leader and a 2015 graduate of UC Berkeley. They received their B.A. in peace & conflict studies with a minor in global poverty & practice. As a program manager for the Alumni Scholars Program, they support first-generation scholarship recipients with professional, academic, and personal advising. Yoyo brings their experiences in practicing healing justice, racial justice, equitable education, and program management to build a student-led vision of academic achievement and civic engagement. She has had the privilege of growing in community spaces including the UC Berkeley Public Service Center, Queer EcoJustice Project, SEEDs Community Resolution Center, Spiral Gardens, Gender Equity Resource Center, Restorative Justice Center, and Teachers 4 Social Justice.
