ABOUT YOUSSIF SHAHEED

I used to think engineering was all about equations, math, physics and perfect CAD assemblies. I was.For me, everything changed when I realized that what I really enjoy isn’t just designing systems, it’s making them come alive. Watching a robot you built move for the first time? That moment sticks.After my first year of engineering at McMaster University, I realized that Engineering was much more than just a bunch of mathematical equations; it\'s a, it\'s a way of thinking, and most importantly, it\'s a tool used to create real change and impact by solving problems that matter, one design at a time.Beyond the classroom, I’ve found that the best lessons don’t always come from textbooks or CAD models. As a CAD Team Executive for the McMaster Sumobot Robotics Club, I lead design development and mentor new members on mechanical principles, CAD fundamentals, and design optimization. My time with the FTC Robotics Team and the Medical Design & Innovation Team strengthened my passion for building systems that integrate both mechanical reliability and human-centred purpose.Outside of engineering, I’ve developed strong interpersonal and leadership skills, from starting my own business to tutoring math and physics students to balancing part-time work at Hudson\'s Bay, creative pursuits and hobbies.
