ABOUT YOUSSEF DELARA

A Los Angeles native and filmmaking veteran, Youssef Delara has produced, directed and edited both for television and film. He is a member of the Director’s Guild of America. Youssef Developed him acute visual style studying photography at Pasadena’s Art Center and film at Loyola Marymount University. After college Delara honed his skills working in the visual effects department on the hit series “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager.” Soon after he joined the team at Creative Visual Effects working as a visual effects coordinator on over 800 shots for the movie’s “Baby Geniuses 2” & “The Karate Dog.” With a solid footing in visual effects, editing, and post production, Delara embarked on a television and feature film career that spans 20 years. Delara directed hard hitting dramas; “ESL: English As A Second Language” (2004) and “Bedrooms” (2006) both which garnered him multiple festival awards. He brought a gritt, fast paced style to his next film, “Filly Brown” (2012) selected for dramatic competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The film stars Hollywood icons, Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillips and breakout star, Gina Rodriquez. His next slate of films, Delara challenged himself, directing a dark psychological thriller, “Enter The Dangerous Mind” (2014) followed by a popcorn fun romantic comedy “The Bounce Back” (2016) starring Hollywood heartthrob Shemar Moore. Delara’s most recent film, “Foster Boy” (2020), is based on a compelling true story and stars Matthew Modine and Lou Gosset Jr. Delara forayed back in television, co-creating, writing & directing the bold three part docu-series “Stak Her” (2022) starring social media icon Sommer Ray.
