ABOUT YOUSSEF A. ELHAGRASY

I am an Engineering Physics student at The University of British Columbia (UBC), pursuing a BASc degree with a focus on Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am currently conducting research at UBC’s Andre Ivanov SoC lab, where I am designing a DFT (Design for Testability) block for a Data Acquisition IP with AMBA communication. This work aligns with my growing interest in ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) design, where I aim to optimize chip architectures for performance and testability.In addition to my research, I am an active member of UBC’s Thunderbots team, contributing to the development of autonomous soccer-playing robots. My responsibilities include designing and testing power circuits, sensor integration, and enhancing wireless communication systems. This experience has sharpened my PCB design skills using Altium and embedded programming in C++.Previously, I published research at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) in collaboration with Dr. Husam Alshareef and Dr. Xiangming Xu, focusing on the fabrication and testing of transistors using advanced materials like Molybdenum Sulfide and MXenes for transparent electronics.I am passionate about ASIC design, embedded systems, and hardware-software co-design. My goal is to apply my skills in semiconductor technology to create impactful innovations in industries ranging from telecommunications to robotics. I thrive in interdisciplinary teams and value curiosity, collaboration, and innovation as drivers for meaningful technological advancements.
