About Yousef Philopos

I am a Senior at Depaul University pursuing a Computer Science degree with a concentration in Software Development. My goal is to grow my career and knowledge with respect to Artificial Intelligence. I am a college student with a diverse skill set that includes a focus on software development and hardware integration, including an interest in leadership and expanding knowledge in industry practice. I enjoy working in a group setting and environment, as well as fostering strong collaborations. Through my time here at DePaul, I have received recognition for my academic success by earning a spot on the Dean\'s List. Further, the biggest opportunity I have received at Depaul was the ability to join and create my project at the Robotics Assisted Locomotion Lab headed by Dr. Umer Huzaifa. This experience allowed me to create my prototype, which utilizes LiDAR to detect falls among the elderly. Through developing the algorithms and software that facilitate this prototype, I can apply skills I have learned in class and gain experience in Software Development and Engineering. Recently, I joined the Cloud Engineering department at TDS Telecom as an Infrastructure Intern. This incredible opportunity has taught me a lot about the industry and the nature of modern infrastructure engineering, which I believe is extremely relevant in today\'s world due to the nature and progression of SAAS and AI technologies. My work focuses on creating and optimizing BASH scripts that are deployed to the Internet Service Provider\'s large-scale network through PUPPET, which uses a master slave framework to manage this large scale. I also concentrate on logging and monitoring these scripts through the use of scripts and logging software and the deploying of new systems, servers, and applications. Over the summer of 2024, I have had the opportunity to work as a Software Engineering Intern at YH & H. I was able to gain hands-on knowledge of React and Full Stack development by developing a cross-platform mobile app that had the goal of teaching young kids the Arabic language. A key lesson I learned during my time at YH & H is the utility of agile scrum methodology and its advantages in the flexibility it offers when developing apps. I particularly enjoyed being part of a team full of experienced software engineers and to learn from their experiences. As an intern at MOEITS, I have learned extensive cybersecurity protocols and applications and gained experience as a systems admin to support employees in optimally completing their jobs.
