ABOUT YOSELINE ANGEL
Scientist and engineer. My research explores water and food security issues, climate change impacts, precision agriculture, natural resources monitoring and modeling, and the use of technologies for enhanced Earth system observation. I have extensive research experience monitoring crop status-productivity and plant health in desertic, forest, and wetland habitats, as well as modeling collections of in-situ and high spatial, spectral and temporal remote sensing data, using machine learning and computer vision methods to retrieve key vegetation indicators (biochemistry of pigments, structural traits). Recent research has focused on translating hyperspectral data into meaningful land surface characterization by integrating multi-scale data from sensors onboard satellites and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platforms into interpretive frameworks. My background is in engineering, with experience in managing and developing multidisciplinary Geographic Information System (GIS) projects in the O&G industry, spatially characterizing ecosystems and conservation areas in the Orinoco and Amazon basins, implementing high-accuracy GNSS networks in the field, and lecturing remote sensing and e ingeniera interdisciplinaria con mentalidad de beneficio, haciendo ciencia con conciencia. Mis investigaciones exploran problemas de soberanía y seguridad alimentaria, manejo del recurso agua, impactos del cambio climático, agricultura de precisión, monitoreo y modelado de recursos naturales a nivel regional y global, mediante el uso de tecnologías de observación terrestre. Tengo una amplia experiencia en el monitoreo de cultivos agrícolas y en general de hábitats desérticos, forestales y de humedales, desarrollando tecnologías de sensoramiento remoto aéreo y satelital, y combinando métodos de inteligencia artificial. Mi experiencia como ingeniera catastral y maestra en geomática comprende la gestión y desarrollo de proyectos corporativos de Sistemas de Información Geográfica en la industria minero energética de Colombia, caracterización espacial de ecosistemas y áreas de conservación en las cuencas del Orinoco y Amazonas, implementación de redes de geoposicionamiento de alta precisión en campo y coordinación de proyectos de desarrollo de tecnología disruptiva. Conferencista internacional en congresos, foros y simposios de medio ambiente, agricultura y tecnologías de observación terrestre.
