About Yolanda Estrada

I am a dedicated and experienced bilingual (English/Spanish) neuropsychologist with a primary focus on forensic assessment. My work encompasses a range of critical areas, including evaluating competency to stand trial, conducting comprehensive assessments for individuals with serious mental illness, and providing violence risk assessments. A core aspect of my practice involves delivering culturally sensitive evaluations, particularly for the Spanish-speaking population, ensuring accurate and equitable assessment outcomes. I also address psychological concerns within correctional settings. My professional background includes extensive experience in institutionalized environments, such as correctional facilities and inpatient psychiatric hospitals, where I have honed my skills in complex cases. Furthermore, I\'ve had the privilege of training with prominent scholars in the field of juvenile sex offending.Beyond clinical practice, I am actively involved in research, having contributed to studies on cultural neuropsychology (including assessment and the impact of bilingualism on testing), the effects of trauma on incarcerated adolescents, and the impact of sex trafficking on youth. I continue to advance my research on the application of neuropsychological assessment within the Spanish-speaking population.Driven by a strong commitment to social justice, I leverage my expertise to advocate for minorities and people of color. I firmly believe that all individuals, regardless of their background or status, deserve equitable access to services, evaluations, education, and quality care.
