ABOUT YOGESWARI CHINNASAMY

I am a biotechnology graduate specialised in cancer research. With a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees, I gained hands on experience in advanced molecular biology techniques. It includes but not limited to SDS-PAGE, AGE, cell culture, cloning DNA constructs, fluorescent microscopy, protein expression in bacterial systems, DNA and RNA extraction, protein dialysis, and size-exclusion chromatography. I handled instruments such as centrifuge, sonicator, nanodrop, FPLC (AKTA systems), HPLC, and EVOS Besides, I also used platforms including PyMol 2.5.5, Benchling, EMBOSS, Clustal Omega, and NCBI GEO for my research. I believe the experiences I gained from my research projects helped me mould my lab handling skills and to work as a team and also independently. In addition, I also volunteered as a research assistant under Dr Vladimir Teif at the University of Essex where I gained experience in using Linux commands for mapping, downloading and intersecting NGS data sets curated from NCBI GEO. To put my skills into practice and aiding the community in keeping their health in check, I am looking for opportunities to do a PhD in gene regulation and epigenetics. I also want to be actively involved in educating people, and women empowerment in low income countries.
